Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The man largely credited with starting the Rochester Downtown Alliance was honored Tuesday during the organization’s annual meeting.

The RDA announced its first-ever "Sandy Keith Award. "

Keith formed the organization after city leaders made a decision to revitalize the downtown. The former Lt Governor and Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice worked with elected officials, businesses and community leaders for months and eventually launched the RDA in 2005 as its first executive director.

The RDA organized downtown businesses and within a few years, developed the popular “Thursdays on First” and other events.

The RDA says in future years, the Sandy Keith Award “will be presented to an individual who has made a notable impact on Downtown Rochester.”
