Child, Man and Woman Dead Following Apparent Murder-Suicide at Hopkins In-Home Daycare

Hopkins, MN (MinnesotaNow)- Authorities in the Twin Cities are investigating an apparent double-murder suicide that occurred at an in-home daycare Wednesday morning.

That’s according to Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson who described the incident as a “horrific, tragic situation” during a news conference with reporters.

Man, Woman and Child Dead After Apparent Double-Murder Suicide at Hopkins In-Home Daycare

Johnson said officers responded to the report of a domestic shortly after 9 a.m. at a home in the 200 block of North Tyler St. in the western metro suburb. 

A parent dropping their child off for daycare reported the incident, Johnston said. 

Responding officers encountered a deceased juvenile, male and female at the scene. Johnston told reporters that it’s not known what weapon was used. 

Johnston said the deceased were part of the same family and described the family as the owners of the home. He also stated that the perpetrator was among the dead.

Six Other Children Present

Six other children were inside of the home at the time of the deadly incident. They were unharmed and reunited with their families, according to Johnston. 

Hopkins police are investigating the suspected murder-suicide and are planning to release more information at a later time, Johnson indicated.
