Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Two rural Rochester men suspected of being high on drugs kept more than two dozen law officers tied up for six hours Thursday.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Behrns says a woman called 911 from a residence south of Salem Corners around 4:00 PM to report a man had just been shot.

Officers found a 46-year-old man who told them he had been shot but medics could not find any injuries. Behrns says the man was taken to St. Marys Hospital to be checked and treated for suspected drug intoxication.

In the meantime, more officers were called to the scene to begin an extended search for the suspected shooter. He was eventually located and also taken to St. Marys. Behrns says both men are well-known to local authorities and have a history of drug use.

Behrns says although 2 guns were found on the property there was no evidence any shots had been fired.

He says officers involved in the incident came from his staff, the Rochester Police Dept and the Minnesota DNR and some state troopers.
