(UPDATE) MnDOT Has Postponed I-90 Detour
Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A significant detour planned for the next couple nights near Rochester has been postponed for one day.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced this afternoon that the detour on I-90 in both directions will occur Wednesday and Thursday nights. An updated news release says traffic will be directed off the freeway in both directions starting at 7 PM Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with the roadway is scheduled to reopen at 5 AM both Thursday and Friday mornings. The detours are needed while crews install the bridge beams for the new Highway 63 northbound bridge over I-90. The freeway will remain open during the daytime hours.
Westbound I-90 traffic will be detoured onto Highway 52 near Marion and then head south on Highway 63 to reconnect to the freeway. Eastbound motorists will leave I-90 at the High Forest exit and take Olmsted County Road 6 into Stewartville before traveling north on Highway 63 back to I-90.

The eastbound I-90 ramp to southbound Highway 63 at Stewartville will remain open.
Motorists should also be aware of changes that affect Olmsted 8 and Hwy 30:
- Stop sign changes at Hwy 30/ Olmsted 8 – the intersection at Hwy 30 and Olmsted 8 will be changed. Motorists on Hwy 30 will need to stop at a stop sign before turning north or south onto Olmsted 8. Motorists on Olmsted 8 will not have a stop sign.
- Hwy 30 detour – the intersection of Hwy 30 west and Hwy 63 is closed and rerouted. Hwy 63 motorists who want to access Hwy 30 west of Hwy 63 will exit at Olmsted County Road 16, (the that serves Rochester International Airport), travel west to Olmsted 8 south to Hwy 30 west.
The overall $15.4 million project to replace both Highway 63 bridges and make upgrades is not expected to be completed until the fall of next year.
