It Appears Flu Season Has Peaked
The latest influenza activity report from the Minnesota Department of Health shows the flu season has apparently peaked in the state.
The department’s weekly update indicates Minnesota’s rating for overall flu-activity was lowered this week from widespread to regional as the state experienced a sizable drop in the number of schools reporting probable outbreaks and another decline in flu-related hospitalizations. 6 schools reported probable outbreaks, compared to 23 the previous week, while the number of hospitalizations fell almost 25%. Flu-activity in Minnesota nursing homes has been a relatively low throughout the entire season and only two long-term care facilities reported outbreaks last week.
