Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - Rochester’s public golf courses were popular this year - and busy.

The Rochester Parks Dept. is reporting all four courses also had an extended season due to warm, dry weather in early November. The courses officially shut down Nov. 14th when cold weather returned and Covid activity began to increase.

The courses opened late this year because of the state’s shutdown order. Eastwood and Soldiers Field opened in late April. Northern Hills and Hadley Creek opened in May.

But the late opening did not affect turnout.

According to a memo from Parks Dept. golf professional David Richardson, a total of 82,034 rounds were played on the three 18 hole city golf courses - the highest number since 2016.

Richardson says when combined with the 16,174 golf rounds played at Hadley Creek, ”the total of 98,208 rounds is the most played on Rochester city golf courses since the early 1990’s.”
