No, not THAT clock tower from "Back to the Future", the old clock that used to be in front of the Mayo Civic Center.

There's a fundraising effort underway now to build a tower to house the old clock and put it in front of the Rochester Fire Station at 6th and Broadway.  The Rochester Area Foundation is spearheading the drive but it'll take 300-thousand dollars to get it done.

Rochester Fire Chief Greg Martin talked about the drive Thursday morning with Rich Peterson on Rochester's Good Morning and a bit of the history of the old clock and bell..

There's a good start to the drive already with a number of corporate sponsors as well as the money left by Mr. Calavano and if you'd like to help out, the Chief offers a few options..

You can listen to Rochester's Good Morning with Rich Peterson and Kim David every weekday morning from 5:30 to 10 on Newstalk 1340 KROC AM.
