This past weekend was the huge Twin Cities Marathon. Many, many people took on the feat of being a part of the marathon, but one person in particular stood out and definitely made the race harder on himself. However, it was for a great cause.

Everyone has been talking about the canoe guy.

This man decided to run the entire Twin Cities Marathon while portaging a canoe. In other words, he carried a canoe on his shoulders the ENTIRE RACE.

1. That's super impressive.

2. Why?!

Who is the Marathon Canoe Guy That Ran the Twin Cities Marathon

So who is this person? His name is Travis Meier. He calls himself a canoehead, so clearly he loves getting out on the water and canoeing.

But he's given himself a new name, and that's the Lorax of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

The Boundary Waters, as I'm sure you know, is a stunning area in Minnesota and there really is no other place like it. Unfortunately, it's a piece of nature that's in danger right now and that's exactly why Travis ran the Twin Cities Marathon while carrying a canoe: to raise awareness for the Boundary Waters.

People around the state have taken notice, and I absolutely love it!

A few days after the Twin Cities Marathon, he shared a photo from the race and asked which marathons were coming up this weekend writing,

"People wanna see 52 in 52"

I'm pretty sure he's talking about 52 marathons in 52 weeks while carrying a canoe. That would be insane! But I admire the ambition. Will he do it? Who knows, but I'm sure he'll try!

As of writing this, according to his Instagram bio, he has already done 4 portage marathons.
