Monday, April 13th is shaping up to be bumpy day across southern Minnesota as a potent weather system moves into the region. While residents are bracing for potential impacts, one of the most famous storm chasers in the world has arrived to document the event.

Reed Timmer, a household name for anyone who follows severe weather, has arrived in southern Minnesota. Timmer, who earned his Ph.D. in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma, has spent decades crisscrossing the country to study the atmosphere's most violent storms. He has intercepted more than 1,000 tornadoes and numerous hurricanes, sharing those heart-pounding and sometimes heart breaking moments with millions of followers worldwide.

Timmer’s crew packed up and headed to southern Minnesota on Sunday. He shared an update on social media and gave fans a look at the "Dominator 3" which is a custom built, highly armored storm-chasing beast designed to withstand extreme winds and debris.

Weather experts have been talking about today's storms for the last several days, warning that much of the region should be on alert.

The primary threats with this incoming line include damaging straight-line winds, destructive hail, and the isolated chance of a tornado. Timmer and his team will be providing live updates across their social media channels - hopefully, there isn't much to report on.

The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities provided this update early Monday morning. The enhanced risk (3) area includes all of southeast Minnesota.
