The Real Reason the Rochester Costco Parking Lot Is a Total Mess Right Now
Costco is the third-biggest retailer worldwide, following Walmart and Amazon. With 624 locations across the U.S., it offers its members exclusive deals and discounts. Did you know certain professions in Minnesota even qualify for discounted memberships?
Costco opened in Rochester back in 2012 and has been one of the busiest stores in the city ever since. If you’ve been over there lately, you already know parking is a total headache right now. A huge section of the lot is completely fenced off for an active construction project.

If you want to avoid the parking lot hassle, shop on Mondays. Experts say most people make their Costco run on the weekend, and Monday is typically the slowest day of the week at the store.
What to Know About The Super-Sized Addition to Costco in Rochester
The bulk warehouse chain is consistently making upgrades and changes inside its stores. Back in April, Rochester shoppers noticed the addition of pre-scan checkouts which are meant to improve the flow of traffic.
The traffic outside the store is a different story right now. If you've been to Costco lately, you've noticed a huge chunk of the parking lot is currently fenced off.
It turns out, the Costco liquor store is getting a major expansion. An employee told me, the liquor store will push back all the way to the Costco sign. No word on a completion date yet.
That's a big expansion.
I'm excited about this because I love beer, but I hate getting it at Costco because it's always warm. I'm hoping this expansion includes a massive beer cooler, the employee I spoke with couldn't confirm, but I feel like that would make a lot of sense.
Either way, now you know why parking is a bit of a hassle over there right now.
