The screams and laughter are about to quiet down at Minnesota’s biggest thrill park. Valleyfair just announced its closing date for the 2025 season, giving fans one last chance to squeeze in a few more rides before the gates shut for winter.

Valleyfair Confirms 2025 Closing Date as Season Winds Down

Valleyfair, Minnesota's lone amusement park, has been standing tall along Highway 169 in Shakopee since opening back in 1976. The park features more than 75 rides, including eight roller coasters, Planet Snoopy featuring 15 children’s rides, and is home to Soak City, a seven-acre water park filled with slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and children’s water features.

Last summer, Valleyfair announced that it had new owners, as a merger deal between Cedar Fair and Six Flags had officially closed. That means Valleyfair has been part of the Six Flags Entertainment Corporation for over a year already, and is among what a release called 'the largest and most diverse amusement park operator in North America,' with a total new combined portfolio of 42 parks across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

How Flooding and Ownership Changes Affected Valleyfair

Before the merger announcement in July 2024, the Valleyfair campus in Shakopee was affected by rising floodwaters from the Minnesota River and was forced to close several rides, as well as part of its parking area. Check out what things looked like in late June (and, no, that's NOT a water ride!)

Thankfully, there wasn't any flooding this year, so Valleyfair's summer season ran smoothly, and its signature fall event, ValleyScare, kicked off its 2025 season without any problems on September 20th.

Valleyfair notes that ValleyScare is 'Minnesota’s largest Halloween event,' and features five haunted mazes, seven scare zones, bone-chilling live entertainment, and specialty food and drink, along with thrills and chills to welcome in fall, the park said.

ValleyScare Wraps Up As Part of Valleyfair’s Final Weekend

But now, with Halloween quickly approaching, so is the final weekend to visit Valleyfair for the 2025 fall season. In a release, Vallefair said, 'Guests have through this Saturday, November 1, to experience the ultimate mix of fall family fun and Halloween thrills.'

In addition to ValleyScare, Valleyfair also offers a special Halloween attraction called Tricks and Treats, which the park says is fun for the whole family:

Tricks and Treats is a family-friendly daytime celebration full of not-so-scary Halloween fun. Guests of all ages can enjoy themed activities, live entertainment, festive games, and fall-inspired food and drinks. Kids can dress up for the costume contest and experience the playful side of Halloween.
