Court Documents Detail Violent Kasson Bottle Attack

Kasson, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Kasson woman was formally charged today in connection with a stabbing incident that was reported last Friday.

Thirty-year-old Johana Paradas was arraigned in Dodge County court on felony charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault. Her conditional bail was set at $50,000.

Victim Found Bleeding at Kwik Trip

According to court documents, Kasson police responded to a medical call at the Kwik Trip in Kasson around 12:30 a.m. Friday and found a man bleeding from his arm. The responding officers indicated the victim had a black rag wrapped around his lower left arm and had blood all over his shirt, shoes, and hands.

Police Describe Serious Arm Injury

When asked how he was injured, the criminal complaint says the victim responded that his "baby mama" stabbed him in the wrist. The responding officer described a 3- to 5-inch gash running along the victim's left arm that was so deep bone was visible.

The court document says Kasson police then responded to an address provided by the victim and found a shattered glass bottle in the street, along with what appeared to be blood droplets and a blood trail measuring approximately 10 to 15 feet.

Court Documents Detail Alleged Assault

The criminal complaint says the victim stated that he went to Paradas' residence, where she allegedly began striking him with a beer bottle and a larger liquor bottle. After he managed to knock the bottles out of her hands, the victim told Kasson police that she responded by biting him, pulling his hair, and punching him.

The victim also indicated that Paradas picked up the larger liquor bottle and began striking him with it again. He described feeling a "slicing cold feeling" in his arm. He also reported that the woman's daughter was yelling at her to stop before he managed to force his way out the door and drive to the Kwik Trip to get help.

Prior Domestic Assault Convictions Cited

The court document indicates Paradas has two previous domestic assault-related convictions. One occurred in Illinois in 2017, and the other occurred in Olmsted County in 2024.

The criminal complaint also says the victim was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday for nerve damage caused by the injuries he suffered during the incident.
