Mantorville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Kasson woman was apparently headed to work when she died in a single-vehicle crash on Labor Day.

Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose says 59-year-old Lorie Alwes was pronounced dead after her 35-year-old son found her inside her crashed car in a ravine along Dodge County Road 15 about 2 miles east of Mantorville. The Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies and other emergency responders to the scene just after 4 PM.

Sheriff Rose says Alwes was scheduled to report for work at a convenience store in Mantorville in the early morning. Her son began searching for her by driving along her usual route after learning she had not come to work and no one had seen or heard from her.

It was determined that her car was traveling west when it left County Road 15 and struck some trees before coming to rest in the ravine. The Sheriff says nothing was found at the scene that suggested what might have caused the crash.
