the former linebacker will be back in Mankato on Sept. 4 to attend the MSU-St. Cloud State game.

Kolstad has been undergoing rehabilitation as he recuperates from an assault in downtown Mankato in May that left him with severe head injuries.

Minnesota State says it will make the 22Strong hashtag a prominent feature of the opener.

Kolstad will help lead the team out onto the field and will serve as an honorary captain for the game. Players will wear a 22Strong decal on their helmets.

Kolstad played football for the Mavericks the last three seasons and is a December 2013 graduate of MSU.
