
High School Student in Lake City Arrested for Threatening Social Media Video

Lake City, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in Lake City say a high student is in custody for posting a threatening video.

A news release issued by the Lake City Police Department says law enforcement became aware of the threat around 4:20 Sunday afternoon.
The threat surfaced on an unnamed social media platform.

Lake City Police Arrest Lincoln High School Student Following Threat Posted on Social Media
Police say the threat was a video posted by a student of Lincoln High School. The video involves the display of a weapon and threatening language, however investigators did not know who or what the threats were directed toward when they first got the report.
Officials launched what the news release describes as an “immediate investigation,” the news release says. As part of the investigation, officers executed a search warrant for the suspect’s home.
No weapon was found in the home and after interviewing the suspect, authorities learned the weapon was not in the student’s possession and that it originated from “unrelated internet sources,” according to the news release.
Police did not release the name of the student arrested. They say there is no threat towards the public and school community.

The incident is under investigation.
