Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department has issued a community notification concerning a man who is returning to Rochester after serving a prison sentence for child sexual abuse. Officials say 47-year-old Scott Thorpe has been designated a high-risk Level 3 sex offender and is scheduled to move into a residence in the 2100 block of Campus Drive Southeast on Friday.

He was convicted in 2011 of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct for sexual contact with a young girl that occurred in 2000. He was given a sentence of almost 11 years in prison but was also given credit for almost 800 days spent in jail prior to his conviction. Thorpe also sentenced to prison in 2004 after he entered a guilty plea in a different case.

Officials say there will not be a public notification meeting concerning Thorpe’s release.
