Winona, MN (KROC AM News) – An employee of the Lewiston-Altura school district was arraigned Friday on child pornography charges.

The four felonies - two charges each of dissemination and possession - were filed against 23-year-old Dane Austin, who has a rural Eyota address.

According to the criminal complaint, an FBI agent became aware of online child porn files as part of an undercover investigation in December. Two were traced to Austin’s IP address.

The agent and a Winona County investigator met with Austin at his Lewiston High School office Thursday, where he was taken into custody.

The complaint says Austin told the investigators “he had a lot of child porn” on his MacBook, which was seized as evidence. The complaint says Austin told the investigators “he was sexually attracted to minors but said, “he had not and would never act out his fantasies.” He denied manufacturing child pornography or having installed hidden cameras in the district’s schools.

Media reports indicate he was employed as the district’s information technology director.

Austin has been ordered back to court for an evidentiary hearing next month.
