It's hard to believe how many new hotels are in the planning stages, being built, or are going to be built in Rochester. Just off the top of my head...

  • Hilton Downtown
  • Mayo Gonda Hotel (on top fo the Gonda Building)
  • Hotel Indigo (Former Holiday Inn Downtown)
  • 2nd Street Hotel (where Virgil's is now)
  • Hotel (to take the place of Days Inn Downtown)

And now, another is on the way, with a Rochester Downtown Neighborhood Association meeting (on January 28th) to talk about it on the way, too.

What's the plan? A second location for TownePlace Suites by Marriott, west of Mayo Clinic's Ozmun Building (which used to be the Olmsted County Courthouse). The first location is less than a mile from the Microtel Inn and Suites just off HiWay 52 North.

According to the Rochester Post Bulletin's Jeff Kiger, there have already been meetings with neighborhood leaders, the next meeting is one required by city rules. Then they'll have 45 minutes to file plans with the city, which means February or March before any city officials see the plans.
