Duluth, MN (Learfield News Service)  -  A suspect and a police dog are dead after an officer-involved shooting in Duluth.

Authorities were called to a home Sunday night for a domestic assault involving a weapon. Investigators say police negotiated with the suspect for about an before the man began firing at officers, striking one of them and killing his dog partner. An officer returned fire and found the suspect dead inside a room in the home. The injured officer was treated for a non-life threatening injury and released.

The Minnesota BCA is taking over the investigation and is expected to release more information Monday.
