Cokato, MN (KROC AM News)  - A central Minnesota man was killed early Wednesday after being hit by a semi-truck.

The State Patrol says the truck was on a rural road in Wright County near Cokato around 2:30 am when the driver saw the man “standing in the lane directly in the lane of the vehicle.”

The State Patrol says the driver “braked and attempted to take evasive maneuver” but was unsuccessful.

The pedestrian was identified as 34-year-old Jacob Merges of Cokato. He died at the scene.

The truck was driven by 56-year-old Gregory Nelson of Dassel.
