Man Killed, Woman Severely Injured in Southeast Minnesota Crash
Northfield, MN (KROC-AM News)- A two-vehicle crash in Rice County claimed the life of a Northfield man, severely injured a Northfield woman and also sent a Twin Cities man to the hospital Friday morning.
The State Patrol responded to the two-vehicle collision along Hwy. 19 on the western outskirts of Northfield. The deadly crash was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m.
The state crash report indicates a eastbound car and westbound SUV collided on the two-lane road. The SUV driver, identified as 26-year-old Dan Alejandro Venegas Garcia of Northfield, died at the scene of the crash.
His passenger, identified as 21-year-old Zurisadail Venegas Garcia of Northfield, was taken to a Twin Cities hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries. 26-year-old Mason Robert Muir of Bloomington was driving the car. He was taken to a hospital in Northfield for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol was not involved in the deadly crash. Zurisadail and Muir were buckled up and its unknown if Dan was buckled, according to the report.
The Northfield Police Department, Northfield Ambulance and Northfield Fire and Rescue also responded to the fatal crash.
