Man Sentenced For 8 Pound Cocaine Bust Near Rochester

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A California man who was caught with more than 8 pounds of cocaine while driving through the Rochester area earlier this year has been sentenced to more than five years in prison.
45-year-old Jorge Arreola went before an Olmsted County judge this afternoon and was given a 65-month prison sentence for his conviction on a first-degree drug charge. He entered a guilty plea to the charge last month through a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of another first-degree drug charge and a felony count of importing drugs across state lines.
Arreola was arrested in the early morning hours of January 31 after a State Trooper spotted him driving a vehicle without a front license plate and made a traffic stop along I-90. The shipment of cocaine was found in the vehicle after authorities were granted permission to conduct a search.
A woman from California was in the vehicle with Arreola. 35-year-old Noemi Cervantes was also arrested and charged with the same three felony drug counts. Her criminal case is still pending.
