Man Shot by Wisconsin Deputy ID’d as Minnesota Bank Robber

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say the man who was fatally shot by a Wisconsin sheriff's deputy over the weekend was a convicted bank robber from Minnesota.

Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer says 69-year-old David Mack of St. Paul was shot Sunday morning as he threatened the deputy with a stun gun and kept coming at him.

Sheriff's officials say the deputy pulled Mack over in Eau Claire Sunday for a traffic violation and found he was wanted on two federal probation and parole warrants.

Authorities say Mack became confrontational and put a Taser-like device up to the deputy's chest. Cramer says the deputy shot Mack as the suspect continued to advance toward him. Mack was pronounced dead at an Eau Claire hospital.

The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the shooting.
