GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) — An Eagan father has been sentenced to more than two months in jail for the accidental suffocation death of his 2-month-old son.

Nathan Savage was sentenced Wednesday to more than 60 days in jail and 10 years of probation. The 31-year-old man admitted to causing the baby's death by pleading guilty on Oct. 29 to one count of second-degree manslaughter.

Court documents show Savage got drunk and took his son, Nolan, to bed with him in October 2013. The documents say that Savage rolled over onto Nolan while he was sleeping, suffocating the baby.

Savage received a reduced sentence because he showed remorse by undergoing therapy before he was ordered to do so.

Savage and his fiancee said in court that the tragedy has caused them to become better people.
