33-year-old Margot Lewis is charged in Hennepin County with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 35-year-old Liaria Tsai, whose body was found in the crashed vehicle Lewis was driving.
The criminal complaint in the case says law enforcement officers discovered a bloody scene at the victim's Minneapolis apartment during a search conducted in late June after Tsai's body was found in the back of Lewis's crashed vehicle.
The court document also indicated that a knife was missing from the home and that an autopsy determined the victim died from multiple sharp-force injuries.
The charges against Lewis also say that video recorded by a security camera outside of the victim's apartment shows a woman, who appears to be Lewis, driving Tsai's vehicle just two hours before the crash occurred on I-90.
The criminal complaint also states that investigators learned the two women were previously in a relationship and that Lewis had flown to Minneapolis from Boston the day before the murder.
Last October, Lewis was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation. The exam found her competent to stand trial.
