MCC Project Ready for Bids

Final design plans have been completed for the Mayo Civic Center renovation 

and expansion project and the City Council is being asked to open the bidding process.  A vote is scheduled Monday.

The proposals will be due by January 20th and the project is expected to be awarded in March.

The project has a two year construction schedule. The expansion portion is scheduled to be completed by September 2016.  The renovation should be completed by August 2017.

The project will add 188,00 square feet to the site, including a two story convention center with a grand ballroom and an addition to the Civic Theater.

The estimated overall cost of the project is $79 million.  The state has awarded a $35 million grant for the project.  The city will pay the rest of the cost.
