Pending State Inspection Delays Opening of New Rochester Splash Pad

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Families anxious to beat the summer heat at Rochester’s newest splash pad will have to wait until at least mid-July to use it.

A news release issued by the City of Rochester says construction of the new McQuillan Splash Pad in southeast Rochester has been completed, however its unable to be opened until the Minnesota Department of Health can inspect the facility.

The news release says city leaders had hoped to open the splash pad, located at 1655 Marion Rd SE, by Independence Day.

The city says the aquatic facility cannot open until its approved by state health inspectors.

Officials estimate the opening of the splash pad to be as early as July 15 but indicate it could be as late as July 22. 

“The City appreciates the community's patience and understanding and looks forward to opening the McQuillan Splash Pad as soon as possible,” the news release says. 

Other Options

Rochester residents looking to beat the heat can take advantage of splash pads at Lincolnshire Park, Soldiers Field Aquatic Center and Silver Lake Pool. 

The pads at Lincolnshire Park and Silver Lake Pool are free. Admission fees apply at Soldiers Field Aquatic Center.
