Her basketball career has officially come full circle.

University of Minnesota alum and current Minnesota Lynx player, Lindsay Whalen, will return to her alma mater this fall as the new head coach of the Gophers women's basketball team! Of course the hire doesn't mean the 35-year-old Hutchinson, Minnesota native is hanging it up professionally... at least not yet. Per the agreement by U of M Athletic Director Mark Coyle, Whalen will still play ball for the Lynx this summer in hopes of winning a 5th WNBA Championship!

The hire comes on the heels of former head coach Marlene Stollings leaving the program after four seasons with the Gophers earlier this week to become the new head coach at Texas Tech University.

According to Gophersports.com, Whalen is the Gophers' all-time leading scorer, second in assists and third in steals. She was also a three-time All-American and three-time All-Big Ten selection.

Welcome "Home" Coach Whalen - and GO GOPHERS!
