Minnesota Authorities Pull Bodies of Fishermen From River
Troy, WI (KROC-AM News)- Two fishermen lost their lives on the St. Croix River Wednesday.
Water Patrols responded to the report of a fishing boat going in circles and a body being seen in the water shortly after 9:30 Wednesday morning.
A news release issued by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office says the call came from Troy Beach in Wisconsin which sits across the river from Afton, MN. Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office found the fishing boat but did not find any bodies when they arrived at the scene by boat.
The empty fishing boat was estimated to be about 650 yards of shore in an area that is 30-40 feet deep. Less than three hours after responding to the call, the Washington County Dive Team recovered the body of an adult male, the news release says.
The team found the body of a second adult male shortly before 6 p.m. The release of the names of the fishermen are pending identification and notification of their families.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office says the incident is under investigation.
