ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — The president of St. Cloud State University has been killed in a car crash.
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Chancellor Steven Rosenstone said in a statement early Tuesday that Earl Potter died in a crash Monday evening while on his way to the Twin Cities for a foundation board meeting.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. in Brooklyn Center on Interstate 694. WJON radio reports Potter's vehicle went off the road and hit a guard rail. The vehicle then flipped multiple times.
Rosenstone has named Provost Ashish Vaidya to serve as the acting president. Potter had been the university's president since 2007.
