St Paul (Learfield News Service) - Leaders have announced the Minnesota DFL Party will hold its 2018 State Convention June 1st through the 3rd at Rochester's newly-remodeled Mayo Civic Center.

It will be a high visibility convention for Democrats, who almost certainly will endorse Senator Amy Klobuchar in her bid for re-election.  But the governor's contest is much more difficult to predict about a year out because Governor Mark Dayton is not running for a third term, leaving that race wide open.  At this point five Democrats are vying for their party's endorsement and on the Republican side at least four have thrown their hats into the ring.

In recent years, the state Republican and Democratic parties have favored the regional centers of Rochester, Duluth and St. Cloud when taking their state conventions to Greater Minnesota.
