Minnesota Flags Lowered to Honor Texas Shooting Victims
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - U.S. and state flags will be flown at half-staff at government facilities in Minnesota through next Tuesday in honor, respect, and remembrance of the victims of the nation’s most recent school shooting.
Governor Mark Dayton issued the order Friday afternoon, several hours after a 17-year-old student shot and killed 9 classmates and a teacher at the high school in Santa Fe Texas. 10 other people were wounded, including a police officer, before the teenager surrendered to authorities in the community of 13,000 residents near Houston.
The governor’s proclamation described the lowering of the flags as “a mark of respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence in Santa Fe, Texas.”
