Looking to crank up the chills this Halloween? One haunted attraction here in Minnesota has earned worldwide recognition for being so terrifying that it’s now ranked among the scariest on the planet.

As it turns out, if you're looking to get your spooky on this Halloween, you can't do better than this Minnesota attraction, which has been named one of the Scariest Haunted Houses in the World!

Minnesota Is Packed With Spooktacular Fall Attractions

Now, the Land of 10,000 Lakes isn't exactly a slouch when it comes to hosting some amazing Halloween attractions every year, mind you. According to the site, Minnesota Haunted Houses, you can get your fill of the scary season at:

  • 52 Pumpkin patches
  • 45 Hayrides
  • 35 Corn mazes
  • 14 Haunted houses

But among all those fabulous Minnesota fall events, there is only *one* Halloween event that has been named to the latest 7 Scariest Haunted Houses in the World! That's the word from this Forbes story that just included a very Minnesota attraction.

The Haunted Minnesota Attraction Making Global Headlines

That would be the Duluth Haunted Ship. That's right, this scary attraction in Minnesota's Twin Ports isn't just located near Lake Superior, it's actually *ON* the big lake they call Gitche Gumee, inside the 700-foot S.S. William A. Irvin.

According to the Duluth Haunted Ship site:

The ghouls on board are waiting to morph the William A. Irvin historic freighter into something truly sinister. This year, you can look forward to more activity outside of the ship on Harbor Drive as well. There are strewn lights, bonfires, drinks and food available for purchase, and more.

Is This Minnesota Haunt Really Cursed?

Forbes points out that the freighter might be genuinely haunted, too. It was apparently the site of a tragedy when, in 1964, a sailor on board was killed during a boiler room accident. Since then, the story goes, there have been 'unexplained shadows, phantom footsteps and other strange events like employees having objects thrown at them while doing maintenance work,' Forbes says.

This year marks the 30th year the Duluth Haunted Ship is set to host visitors, which means this October would be a great time to check out its 2025 run. The scary event is scheduled to open to the public on Friday, October 3rd, and runs long weekends through Halloween, Friday, October 31st. (You can get tickets HERE.)

Now if you don't want to load the kids in the car and make the road trip up to Duluth (though who doesn't love a trip up to Minnesota's scenic North Shore?), keep scrolling to check out some incredible corn mazes that are waiting for you to tackle them this fall all across the Gopher State.
