Minnesota Man Killed After Vehicle Crashes into Pond
Chanhassen, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Minnesota man was killed after his vehicle crashed into a holding pond Monday.
The State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in the Twin Cities suburb of Chanhassen around 11:20 a.m. The crash occurred at the interchange of Hwy. 212 and Carver County Rd. 101.
The state crash report indicates a minivan had exited westbound Hwy. 212 when it ran a red light at the end of the off-ramp and struck a SUV traveling north on County Rd. 101. The van then became submerged in a nearby holding pond following the collision.
Authorities say the van driver, identified as 71-year-old Kenneth John Blumberg of Eden Prairie, was brought from the scene to a Twin Cities hospital where he died from his injuries Tuesday morning. Dispatch reports indicate the depth of the pond was unknown, however a dive team was seen assisting the state patrol at the fatal crash site.
The SUV driver, 52-year-old Maryjane Lark of Norwood Young America, was not hurt. The state crash report indicates both drivers were buckled at the time of the now deadly crash.
