SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a Minnesota man died after falling 60 feet while rappelling down a cliff in southern Utah.

Grand County Sheriff's Lt. Kim Neal said that 33-year-old Scott Henning hiked with a friend Monday to a popular area for rappelling near the tourist town of Moab.

Henning was rappelling down a cliff in Moonflower Canyon when he had a problem with the rope and fell. Neal declined to provide more specifics about what happened with the rope.

A helicopter flew emergency personnel to the area but Henning died at the scene.

Neal says Henning was from Delano, Minnesota.
