Minnesota National Guard General Assigned To Army Cyber Unit

St Paul (KROC AM News) - A senior officer of the Minnesota National Guard has a new assignment - working with a prestigious US Army unit.

The MNG says Army Maj. Gen. Johanna Clyborne has been selected to serve as Deputy Commanding General (Army National Guard), at the Army Cyber Center of Excellence.

Clyborne’s new role is a two-year additional duty, meaning she will maintain her membership and current duty assignments and responsibilities as the Assistant Adjutant General in the Minnesota National Guard while serving in a dual-hatted capacity.

“Maj. Gen. Clyborne will be a tremendous asset for the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence,” said Maj. Gen. Shawn Manke, Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard, “she is a strong and tenacious leader with a passion for both people and modernization.”

Clyborne was appointed by Governor Mark Dayton on a short-term assignment to serve as his Commissioner and the Chief Information Officer for the state of Minnesota in 2018.

In addition to her Guard roles, Clyborne is a founding partner of the Shakopee-based law firm Brekke, Clyborne, and Ribich where she focuses on family law.

“Being selected for this position at the Cyber Center of Excellence is an honor,” said Clyborne, “I am excited to be part of the national level team that focuses on the criticality of training the next generation of our nation’s cyber warriors and ensuring our capabilities are on the cutting edge of modern technology.”
