Marshall, MN (KROC-AM News)-  A ceremony is happening Wednesday in Marshall for members of the Minnesota National Guard who are scheduled to deploy to the Middle East this summer.

A news release issued by the Minnesota National Guard says the deployment is part of a regularly scheduled rotation with the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division out of Iowa. 

The soldiers of the Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 151 Field Artillery Regiment are from 65 different communities across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

Approximately 70 Minnesota National Guard Soldiers to Deploy to the Middle East

The news release says approximately 70 soldiers from the battery are scheduled to deploy in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in the Middle East. 

Their mission is to provide timely and accurate artillery fires to support maneuver ground units operating in the U.S. Central Command region.

“Our Soldiers are prepared for and dedicated to this mission,” said Alpha Battery Commander, Army Capt. Dan Meyer, “They bring with them a deep sense of duty and professionalism, strengthened by the support of their families and communities back home.” 

The soldiers will first travel to Fort Johnson, Louisiana for a Joint Readiness Training Center rotation. That will be followed by approximately four weeks of pre-mobilization training. 

They are expected to return home in May 2026, the news release says. The ceremony is taking place at the Red Baron Arena & Expo, located at 1651 Victory Dr., Marshall, Minn.
