Minnesotans are being told to expect the bitter cold to continue into Wednesday night. The National Weather Service has posted wind chill advisories across southern Minnesota, while much of northern Minnesota is under wind chill warnings.   Lows of -20 and colder are forecast to the north, where the wind chills are predicted to reach 45 below zero. Southern Minnesota won’t be that cold, but wind chill readings of -20 to -30 are expected by early Wednesday.

The region could also see some light accumulating snow overnight, which would add to the already slick conditions.  The Minnesota State Patrol says troopers responded to over 170 crashes and 180 vehicles off roadways statewide on Tuesday. That total includes four injury crashes in southeastern Minnesota, where blowing snow created difficult driving conditions in the Rochester area.
