Minnesota Sex Offender Sentenced in Federal Child Porn Case
Duluth, MN (KROC-AM News) - A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to more than 15 1/2 years in federal prison for a child pornography conviction.
The US Attorney for Minnesota says 37-year-old Eric Sherman was on supervised release after serving a 90-month prison sentence for a second-degree criminal sexual conduct conviction involving a four-year-old child when Duluth authorities received a cyber tip concerning a Duluth resident uploading more than 20 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse. The Internet uploads occurred in late February and early March 2020 on the Kik app.
Court documents indicate the cyber tip led to a search warrant for the home and vehicles of Sherman. Federal prosecutors say investigators seized a cell phone and found multiple sexually explicit images and videos of prepubescent children.
Earlier this year, Sherman entered a guilty plea to one count of receipt of child pornography.
