Minnesota’s Snowplow Name Finalists Did Not Disappoint
Minnesota has never taken snow lightly and that includes naming the machines that save our winter commutes. After more than 6,750 submissions from across the state MnDOT has officially revealed the finalists for the 2025-26 Name a Snowplow contest and wow, the creativity this year is next-level.
If you remember past legends like Taylor Drift, Dolly Plowton, and Plowabunga, you already know the bar is set very high. These names have left their mark - slapped on plows, splashed across newscasts, and casually name dropped every time a big storm hit. In other words, the 2025–26 finalists have some very big boots to fill.

Voting Is Now Open
MnDOT narrowed those thousands of submissions down to 30 finalists. From there eight winning names will be chosen, one for each MnDOT district.
You can vote once and select up to eight names total, so choose wisely. Voting is open until noon on Friday, February 13th.
Some are pure dad joke energy. Some are clever. Others honestly shock me that they haven’t already been the name. Then there are a few that just feel like they belong on every Minnesota road forever.
