Minnesota Standoff Triggers Shelter in Place Order Overnight
Maple Grove, MN (KROC-AM News)- Residents of a Twin Cities suburb were told to shelter in place due to an armed standoff Wednesday night.
The Maple Grove Police Department says officers were on the scene of a barricaded subject with a gun around 9 p.m. at a residence in the 10200 block of Yorktown Ln. No shots had been fired, however residents in the immediate area were told to shelter in place and stay away from windows and walls.
Police announced the situation had been resolved about three hours after alerting the public to the standoff. Authorities say the suspect, described as a 59-year-old man, was arrested without further incident after several hours of negotiation.
The man was jailed on suspicion of domestic assault. Police say no shots were fired during the armed standoff and no injuries were reported.
