Minnetrista, MN (KROC-AM News) - A preliminary report indicates two people were killed in a multi-vehicle traffic crash on the west edge of the Twin Cities this afternoon.

The State Patrol says the victims were in a small SUV that collided head-on with a semi-truck on Highway 7 in the town of Minnetrista just south of St. Bonafacius. The crash was reported just after noon.

The preliminary report says the SUV crossed over the median line and into the path of the semi-truck. Both vehicles came to rest in the adjacent ditch and the photos of the aftermath of the deadly incident appeared to show the smaller vehicle pinned under the truck.

There were two people in the SUV. The driver was a 40-year-old man and the passenger was a 30-year-old woman. Their names have not been released.

The driver of the semi-truck was a 39-year-old man from Winnipeg Canada. He was not injured.
