Minnesota Teen Shot and Killed, Suspect Arrested Following Pursuit
Chanhassen, MN (KROC-AM News)- A 17-year-old boy was killed and an 18-year-old woman is in custody following a shooting in the Twin Cities area early Thursday morning.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a hospital in Edina on the report of a juvenile male there that had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities received the report of the fatal shooting shortly before 2:45 a.m.
A news release from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office says the boy was riding in a vehicle that had been involved in a vehicle pursuit with the Eden Prairie Police Department. The pursuit had ended at the Edina hospital where officers discovered the teenaged boy had been shot.
The preliminary investigation indicates the boy had been shot in Chanhassen and driven to the hospital by his friends. Authorities say the woman arrested in connection with the shooting is an acquaintance of the victim.
Officials say the victim and suspect are from the east metro. The victim’s name will be released pending the results of an autopsy and notification of next of kin. The shooting remains under investigation.
