It's not much of a surprise to us here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but Minnesota has just been ranked as one of the smartest states in the country.

Here in Minnesota, we're used to being rated near the top of much different quality of life categories, right? We have great communities, access to world-class healthcare and top-notch schools.

And, according to a new survey from the number-crunchers over at WalletHub, Minnesota is also one of the Top 10 Smartest States in the country as well. Specifically, the survey looked at, and measured, which states are the most (and least) educated in America.

How did they determine that we're so smart here in Minnesota? According to WalletHub, they compared the 50 states across two key dimensions, Educational Attainment and Quality of Education, and looked at 18 different categories using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Center for Education as well as others.

The results? Minnesota is ranked as the 9th Smartest State in the Country. Which is pretty good, if you ask me. Only New Hampshire, Virginia, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Colorado, and Maryland. Massachusetts came in as the number-one state.

Meanwhile, my home state of Wisconsin came in ranked 20th, while our neighbors to the south down in Iowa were ranked at number 31. Coming in last in the survey was West Virginia, which was ranked at number 50.
