Washington, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Department of Defense today identified a soldier from Mankato as one of the five victims of a helicopter crash over the weekend

24-year-old Cade M. Wolfe was a sergeant with a US Army Special Operations aviation unit and was on board an MH-60 Blackhawk helicopter conducting aerial refueling training when there was an in-flight emergency. Pentagon officials say the helicopter then crashed in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday.

The Defense Department says there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy/hostile actions.

The statement says "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the fallen. The US Armies Combat Readiness Center is conducting an investigation into the incident."

The other soldiers killed in the crash were identified as Sergeant Andrew Southard of Apache Junction-Arizona, Staff Sergeant Tanner Grone of Gorham, New Hampshire, Chief Warrant Officer Shane Barnes of Sacramento, California, and Chief Warrant Officer Stephen Dwyer of Clarksville, Tennessee.
