St Paul, MN (KROC AM News) - A new report shows Minnesota’s adult obesity rate rose to 28.4 percent in 2017, slightly higher than the year before.

The report also shows Minnesota continued a recent trend of being lower than Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

In fact, Minnesota is now the only state in the Midwest that has an obesity rate below 30 percent.

The report also shows Minnesota’s obesity rate has remained well under the national figure since 2007. The national rate last year was 30.1 percent - meaning nearly a third of the country’s adults were considered obese.
