One of my neighbors uses an e-bike to commute to work each day, and I'm kind of jealous. He doesn't have to worry about getting stuck in traffic, paying for gas, or finding parking, and it looks like a lot of fun to ride.

If you're like me and want one, you can get a rebate to help pay for it. The State of Minnesota has an e-bike rebate program, offering up to $2 million annually through a lottery system to help residents purchase electric bikes. Learn more about e-bikes and the rebate program below.

You do not need a driver's license or permit to operate on, but Sgt. Troy Christianson from the Minnesota State Patrol says there is an age requirement.

Christinanson says that e-bikes are regulated the same way bicycles are and "nearly all bicycle laws apply" to e-bike users.

The State Trooper also said the minimum operator age is 15 years old.
