St Paul (KROC AM News) -  More than a third of Minnesota’s registered voters have applied for an absentee ballot and half of those have already been accepted.

Minnesota’s top elections official released the new numbers Friday with this headline:

“An amazing trend continues.”

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon made the report on Twitter, saying:

“As of today, 1,321,864 Minnesotans have applied to vote from home (and 601,094 of those ballots have already been accepted). At this point in 2016, just 281,532 people had applied to vote at home. Wow.

Simon’s state website says as of October 1st, the number of registered voters in Minnesota was 3,537,003.
