Today, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development released applications for Movie Theater and Convention Center grants established in the recent state COVID-19 relief package.

Many Movie Theaters and Convention Centers have had financial hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the following grants are for relief for movie theaters and convention centers in Minnesota. The three new programs included in Minnesota’s small business relief package were signed into law on December 16.

According to MnDEED's press release, the temporary program was established to help provide economic relief for movie theaters and civic centers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On the movie theater side, the program will make grants of up to $150,000 to eligible movie theaters located in the state. DEED will administer the program and all movie theaters interested in receiving a relief grant must submit a completed application by Jan. 29th. The link to apply for the grant can be found here.

On the Civic Center side, the temporary program will make grants of up to $500,000 to eligible convention centers located in the state. All convention centers interested in receiving a relief grant must submit a completed application by Jan. 29th. The link to apply for the grant can be found here.
