The White House has agreed to add 24 more counties to the Presidential Disaster Declaration that was issued last week in response to the devastating flooding that hit the state in June. Among those added to the list are Dodge, Steele and Waseca, along with the Prairie Island Indian Community. That raises the total included in the declaration to 32 counties and two tribal governments.

Governor Dayton’s office says FEMA is still reviewing damage assessments from six other counties and they could be added to the list at a later date.

Local governments and certain non-profit organizations in the counties included in the declaration can apply for federal and state reimbursement for the money they spend on cleanup and repair of public infrastructure.

Here is the official new release.
